HYDERABAD: A party by six friends to celebrate ‘Friendship Day’ on Sunday at a pub ended in tragedy as the car driven by their drunk friend overturned at high speed in Kondapur, killing one and injuring two others. The six had left the pub around 11pm in two cars, with four in the one that crashed and two in the car behind it. The drunk driver was unhurt, police said.

The 21-year-old driver, Abhishek, is in police custody and has been booked under

section 304 II (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).

“The car was going towards Madinaguda and being driven at a high speed by Abhishek who was drunk. He lost control and the vehicle turned turtle,” the inspector said.

Police said Abhishek failed to realise that the 100-ft road on which they were travelling was to end and a narrow road of 60 ft was to start. Once the car got on to the 60-ft road, he veered the car to the right but ended up hitting a pile of debris and the car overturned, police said.
