“The milled surface on either side of the road makes it an accident-prone stretch,” said a motorist, SG Mahmood Hussain.

“Authorities should take immediate note of this, and ensure overlying work is finished as early as possible.”

Another commuter told TOI that the poor condition of the road has forced people to take a longer route to reach to their destination.

“It has been close to a month since I have been avoiding taking this route,” said another motorist, Azeem. “It has increased my commuting time significantly.”

Shopkeepers on the already busy and narrow stretch are not a happy lot either. They said that unfinished road work has only made matters worse.

“Already the road is congested, and even if one vehicle gets stuck, it brings the traffic to a halt. The road needs immediate repair, else people will further suffer,” said a shopkeeper.

When contacted, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials confirmed the temporary stalling of the work, and said that the contractor has halted the work as his bills weren’t cleared.
