MIM party against Women’s Bill: Owaisi

Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said his party is against the Women’s Reservation Bill as it does not provide quota for women from the Muslim and OBC, defeating the purpose of the Bill to increasing the percentage of women in legislatures. “The Bill has been brought so that there is proper representation of the under-represented section (Women). So far, 17 Lok Sabha polls have been held and 8,992 MPs have been elected. Of this, only 520 are Muslims and only a handful of women are among them. So, there is 50% deficit,” he said.TNN

First bill to be introduced in new Parliament building: 'Women's reservation bill in Lok Sabha'

The Indian government has introduced a constitutional amendment bill to reserve one-third of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women. This bill, named "Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam," aims to increase women's participation in policymaking and align with the objective of making India a developed nation by 2047. Lok Sabha proceedings adjourned after introduction of women's reservation bill

The Lok Sabha was adjourned after the introduction of the women's reservation bill, marking the first bill in the new building. The old Parliament building will now be known as 'Samvidhan Sadan'. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged MPs to start anew and be an inspiration for citizens. The bill introduced by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal aims to reserve one-third of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women, increasing the number of women members in the Lok Sabha from 82 to 181.
