Telangana: PM Modi takes on KCR, says some people are forging national ‘alliance’ of corrupt
HYDERABAD: In an offensive aimed at Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, but not naming him, PM Narendra Modi said on Saturday that “some people” were desperately trying to escape investigation by forming alliances with “corrupt individuals” nationwide.
The remark was seen as a counter to KCR’s attempts to forge a united front against BJP in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Modi’s comments in Hyderabad came amidst raids and searches by the Enforcement Directorate and other agencies on granite exporters, pharma companies and liquor cartels perceived to be close to TRS ministers and lawmakers.
The PM also called out the “local government”— avoiding naming TRS or KCR — to say “those who have benefited in the name of Telangana and got power moved ahead, leaving the people behind”.
