Munagala sizzles at 45.5 degree Celsius

Hyderabad: Telangana continued to reel under intense heat on Friday as several districts recorded maximum temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius, with Munagala in Suryapet emerging as the hottest in the state at a scorching 45.5 degrees Celsius, according to data from Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS). Khammam and Peddapalli followed closely, both recording 45.1 degrees Celsius, while Jagtial touched 44.9 degrees Celsius.Other severely affected districts included Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kumuram Bheem and Mancherial at 44.8 degrees Celsius, while Mahabubabad recorded 44.6 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in Hyderabad also remained high, with the city recording 42.4 degrees Celsius at Asifnagar. Officials said the state continues to remain under a red alert as average temperatures across Telangana hovered close to 46 degrees Celsius, surpassing last year's peak of 45.2 degrees Celsius.Despite isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall in some regions over the past few days, heatwave conditions have shown little sign of easing. Weather officials warned that dry weather conditions are likely to intensify further in the coming days, raising concerns over prolonged heat stress across the state.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Hanumakonda districts. Hyderabad is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky with hazy morning conditions, while maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain around 41 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.
