HYDERABAD: A day after her remarks sparked a controversy, Telangana endowment and forest minister Konda Surekha on Thursday offered apologies for her comments about film actor Samantha.
She stated that her intention was only to highlight how KTR disregards women. After the controversy erupted, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud spoke to her, which was followed by her post on her X handle.
In her post, she addressed Samantha, saying, "I respect women like you who have achieved success through hard work. If you or your fans were upset about my remarks, I am withdrawing them. Please do not think otherwise."
In her two posts made in Telugu, she did not mention anything about actor Nagarjuna.
Earlier, on Wednesday Surekha sparked a massive controversy, after she blamed BRS working president, K T Rama Rao, for the divorce of Tollywood actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Prabu.
The minister also made controversial remarks about actor Nagarjuna’s family, involving Samantha’s divorce from Nagarjuna’s son and actor Naga Chaitanya.
Her comments drew sharp reactions from the film industry and turned into a full-blown political row within hours.
KTR had denied the allegations about BRS workers being responsible for online trolling of Konda Surekha.
“Surekha is saying that she was being trolled and abused in a derogatory manner on social media. But the same minister insulted other women and is now making a hue and cry over this,” KTR told the media during an informal chat. “She even accused me of tapping phones of some actresses. Comments like these affect our families,” he said.
