No confusion over tractor and road roller this time

: Tractor and road roller, two symbols akin to TRS’s symbol of car, made no impact this time round. Unlike last year’s confusion, not many votes were polled for these two symbols. While independent candidate Ajmeera Mahesh, who contested on tractor symbol, polled 913 votes, another independent Kiran Vangapalli, who got road roller as symbol, got 812 votes.

TRS blamed truck symbol for defeat in December 2018 assembly polls on the grounds that people confused it with car and voted for truck symbol. Saidi Reddy, who won the seat, said Congress’s conspiracy, at whose behest some of independents had filed nominations and sought these symbols, failed to confuse voters. “We created awareness on symbols. Even print quality of car, tractor and road roller was good on ballot paper,” Saidi Reddy said. — Roushan Ali
