HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Thursday refused to grant any interim relief to former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao on the P.C. Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
A Bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, hearing their petitions challenging the commission report, also took exception to the report being hosted on government websites and circulated in the public domain, as alleged by the petitioners. The court directed the State to take down the report from government websites if it was hosted there.
The Bench further directed the State to file a detailed counter within three weeks and posted the case for further hearing after four weeks.
Meanwhile, responding to the Bench’s queries on Thursday, Advocate General A. Sudarshan Reddy, appearing for the State, informed the court that no action would be taken on the findings of the report until it was placed before the Assembly for discussion. Any action, he said, could only follow thereafter.
The petitioners had earlier sought a stay on the commission report and protection, contending that the findings caused grievous harm to their conduct and reputation.
The court was hearing petitions filed by K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Harish Rao, who alleged that the commission did not conduct the inquiry in a fair manner and that they were not given an opportunity to present their case.
