The election was held in the GWMC council hall on Saturday. The mayor’s post fell vacant after sitting mayor Nannapaneni Narender resigned from the post following his election to the legislative assembly from Warangal-East in December. Since then, deputy mayor Khaja Sirajuddin Ahmed has been looking after the affairs of the civic body.
