HYDERABAD: It's almost a month since Supreme Court appointed a four-member supervisory committee to oversee affairs of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
Having not played an active role so far, the panel clarified it's waiting for the T20I to conclude, before swinging into action.
"There is a big misconception that we are taking over HCA affairs and will run the day-to-day things. That's not true. The SC has appointed the supervisory committee to look into the decisions taken by the apex council and the general body," committee member and former India player SL Venkatapathi Raju told STOI on Saturday.
"As the case is still pending, the committee will study the whole matter - what has gone wrong in the association and how things can be set right - and submit a report to the SC within the stipulated time," he said. On SC asking the committee to look into all issues and resolve them expeditiously, Raju said, "As there is a match, we thought it is better not to interfere at this juncture. After the match, we will study all the material placed before us. By the way, nothing has been given to the committee. We had a video conference on Friday. Justice Kakru will be here on September 26 and we will have a meeting to review the issues as mandated by SC."
Raju also said that Justice Kakru will spell out the issues relating to the mandate of the committee. When asked about the status of the apex council, Raju said, "If the SC has restored the apex council it is up to the members to take up the matter with the president and assert their rights. No one can prevent them from discharging their duties."
