SIRIS MD arrested in land registration fraud case

(SIRIS) chairman and managing director Gokaraju Subba Raju was arrested by Rachakonda police for his alleged role in the LB Nagar land registration fraud case. Police arrested Raju from his residence at Jubilee Hills on Thursday.

Anti-Corruption Bureau

(ACB) sleuths continued their searches at the houses and offices of key associates of Balanagar and Kukatpally sub-registrars on Thursday to gather evidence.

LB Nagar police arrested Gokaraju Subba Raju, 65, chairman and managing director of SIRIS, for colluding with Medchal joint sub-registrar T Ramesh Chander Reddy and selling 10,950 square yards of land in survey number 9/4 abutting the National Highway in LB Nagar by undervaluing it in 2015. "The sub-registrar should have collected 35,000 per square yard stamp duty for the land, but instead, in collusion with businessman Raju, collected only 13,000 per square yard, causing 1.45 crore loss to the government. The businessman had also evaded lakhs of rupees of income tax,"

Rachakonda police have also formed special teams to nab 11 absconding accused, including Sama Narasimha Reddy, V Yadaiah, Buchibabu, A Anand Kumar, Y Anand Kumar, Ramanadham, Vijay Kumar, Sunil Kumar Reddy, Sarita Reddy, R Sridhar and Sangeeta Reddy, all well-known business persons from the city, in the case.

In a related development, Balanagar police arrested Md Mubrajuddin Khan, 49, a businessman from Sanatnagar, in the land fraud case involving accused Balanagar sub-registrar Md Yousuf. Yousuf was arrested on Wednesday night and both the accused were sent to judicial remand. Police said four other accused - Md Shareef, a realtor, Himayathunnisa Begum, Md

and B Krishna Reddy, an advocate - were absconding and special teams were trying to nab them.

In a related development, ACB sleuths conducted surprise checks at the houses and offices of some of the colleagues of accused Kukatpally sub-registrar Rachakonda Srinivasa Rao and Balanagar sub-registrar Md Yousuf. Searches were also continuing at the houses and offices of Rao, Yousuf and Medchal sub-registrar Reddy.

limits and incriminating evidence was gathered. ACB teams along with Cyberabad police conducted searches at TNGO's Hyderabad city president Syed Mujibullah's house in Zahra Nagar, Banjara Hills. Mujibullah, a senior assistant, is currently in-charge sub-registrar at Begumpet sub-registrar office in Vallabh Nagar, Prakash Nagar. "Mujibullah worked with Kukatpally sub-registrar Srinivasa Rao in the past. We have seized some evidence from his house," an ACB official said.

Meanwhile, Cyberabad police said they were yet to get any leads about the whereabouts of absconding accused in the

Miyapur

land case. "We have sought custody of the arrested culprits Rao, Parthasarathi and Sharma. Once we get the custody, we might get some information about the whereabouts of the other accused. Also, we have collected details of the accused and the companies operated by them from RoC to build strong evidence against them," a Cyberabad police source said.
