Suspended CISF cop arrested with 158 kg ganja
Hyderabad: Task Force sleuths, along with SR Nagar police, arrested a suspended CISF constable in SR Nagar on Tuesday night and seized 158 kg of ganja, worth Rs 79 lakh, from his possession. The accused, P Shiva Krishna, 39, hails from Mothugudem in the Alluri Sitharama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh, and was last posted in the Tiruvananthapuram district of Kerala.
Acting on a specific alert, the police arrested Krishna near Nature Cure Hospital in SR Nagar and seized 158 kg of ganja, a car, and three mobile phones. According to the police, the accused has been staying at Ottoor village in Tiruvananthapuram. He was recruited as a constable in the CISF in 2009, later joining the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on deputation.
“Krishna found out that there was a high demand for ganja and, due to financial problems, he started transporting ganja illegally on a commission basis,” said Task Force DCP Vaibhav Gaikwad said. Krishna procured the contraband from cultivators in Odisha to supply interstate peddlers operating in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. While transporting the contraband, he often misused his official position as a CISF constable. “Whenever his vehicle was intercepted at police checkpoints, he would show his CISF identity card to evade inspection,” the police said.
Krishna was previously arrested in 2025 by the Dammapet police in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district in an NDPS case and sent to Khammam jail on judicial remand. He has been suspended since his arrest. After being released from prison, he resumed his illegal activities three months ago. “Every month, he has been doing four trips from Odisha to different states and earning about Rs 10 lakh per month. We will identify the suppliers, buyers and arrest them,” said a Task Force official.
