T mops up more investments at WEF

Hyderabad: After mopping up investments of over Rs 36,500 crore at the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos on Wednesday, Telangana saw more investment commitments on Thursday as the delegation led by CM A Revanth Reddy held meetings with top honchos.UK-based Surgical Instruments Group Holdings said it will invest nearly Rs 232 crore in a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad over the next 2-3 years as part of entry into Indian medical devices market. In Phase-1, it will manufacture general surgical instruments, precision surgical instruments used in micro-surgeries, orthopaedic power tools, ophthalmic instruments and minimal invasive surgery. In Phase-2, it will expand to manufacturing robotic medical devices. The company said it will be making several devices currently not made in India as part of affordable healthcare.Shared mobility giant Uber’s leadership team apprised the CM of plans to deepen roots in Hyderabad, which houses its largest tech centre and engineering hub outside the US, by expanding into AI and Machine Learning. They also plan to launch Uber Green services and Uber Shuttle services in Hyderabad.Meanwhile, Systra Group inked an MoU with the state for a 1,000-member advanced centre for digital design and construction management in Hyderabad after a meeting between IT minister D Sridhar Babu and Systra Group CEO Pierre Verzat.IT development and services provider Qcentrio also met the IT minister and discussed plans to create around 1,000 jobs through expansion.Meanwhile, o9 Solutions co-founder & CEO told the IT minister they plan to launch a specialised supply chain skills academy in partnership with the state government.
