HYDERABAD: Telangana police have intensified combing operations in Adilabad after getting information that suspected CPI-Maoist members have entered the district. Police claimed that about a week ago 10 Maoists entered Adilabad forests from neighbouring Maharashtra to revive the activities of the proscribed organisation. Police, with the support of gram panchayat leaders, have been reaching out to villagers to ensure they don't support the Maoists.

Armed with information that suspected CPIMaoist members entered Adilabad, Telangana police have intensified combing operations. Adilabad police have appealed to locals not to give shelter to Maoists. Police claimed that they have information about entry of 10 Maoists to the district to revive the activities of the proscribed organization. Police, with the support of gram panchayat leaders, have been reaching out to villagers to make sure they don’t support the Maoists.
It was a week ago, they had reportedly entered Adilabad forests from the neighbouring Maharashtra. The 10 Maoists were suspected to be dalam members. Greyhounds, an anti-Maoist commando unit, and the local police have started combing operations. In 2020, police and Maoists had exchanged fire in Adilabad district. After that, police had intensified their focus on Adilabad to avert Maoists’ attempt to gain a foothold in the district.
