Tilted structure in Bahadurpura razed by GHMC

Hyderabad: The demolition of the tilted under-construction four-storey building in Bahadurpura began on Monday. The building had begun to tilt four days ago, triggering panic and eventual evacuation of people residing in adjacent buildings.
According to officials, the entire demolition was being undertaken by GHMC but the cost of 30 lakh was borne by the owner of the building.
“As of 6 pm on Monday 50% of the demolition was over and rest of the building should be razed later in the night. Debris will be removed soon after,” said M Shyam Kumar, city planner, GHMC.
It is learnt that the entire building began tilting after a sump was dug up near one of the pillars. Officials said that owner had built two additional floors. “We have filed a complaint with the police who have booked him under relevant IPC sections,” said Kumar.
Locals will be allowed to re-occupy their homes by Tuesday evening after rubble and dust is removed.
