8-year-old hit by stray bullet in Bishnupur

Imphal: An eight-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet in Bishnupur district’s Kwaka area bordering Churachandpur district on Wednesday night.The girl was rushed to Bishnupur district hospital, which referred her to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal.Cops said the bullet grazed the right right side of the victim’s head, and a case has been registered at Pougakchao Ikhai police station. A team led by the PS officer-in-charge inspected the house of the victim and recovered the bullet which they identified as that of an automatic rifle.Though a joint team of the Army, the Central Armed Police Force and the district police immediately swung into action and carried out operations in suspected areas, no one was arrested.Irate villagers on Thursday sought a thorough probe into the matter and urged the government to take necessary measures against the culprits and maintain peace and normalcy in Kwaka.Stating that people of Kwakta have not been involved in the ethnic conflict since the very beginning, Abdul Hakim, father of the victim, also urged the government to maintain peace in the area.

State govt ready for talks with Naxals, but not if they use bullets

CM Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy CM Vijay Sharma extended condolences to the family of CAF personnel Kamlesh Sahu, who was killed in a Naxal attack in Narayanpur district. The entire state stands with the martyred jawan's family. The government condemns the attack and promises no leniency for the perpetrators. Other BJP MLAs also paid tribute to Kamlesh Sahu in his native place, Hasaud.

Bullets that rained towards Delhi realtor a payback for affair

A south Delhi realtor narrowly escaped a shooting when two men on a bike chased and shot at his brand new Audi. The shooting was orchestrated by Sahil Arora, a gun-for-hire from west Delhi, who was hired by a man suspicious of his wife's relationship with the realtor. Special commissioner Ravindra Yadav formed teams to catch Arora, who had been involved in multiple shootings and had evaded arrest since 2014. Arora was finally apprehended in Delhi along with his shooter, Barfi, and confessed to multiple crimes, including shootings and extortion.

Sapdanga visits Myanmar border district

Mizoram's newly appointed home minister, K Sapdanga, embarked on his first official visit to combat drug trafficking in the state. During his two-day tour of the Myanmar bordering Champhai district, Sapdanga expressed his determination to address the issue and urged public cooperation. He highlighted the role of Champhai as a primary conduit for illicit drugs and emphasized the government's commitment to revitalizing Mizoram. Accompanied by Lalnghinglova Hmar, MoS for excise & narcotics, Sapdanga also visited Saitual district HQ and police battalion HQ at Khawzawl to interact with officials.
