Leaders of 10 pol parties clash with cops during march to Raj Bhavan

Imphal: Workers of 10 political parties clashed with police at the Kangla main gate while marching towards the Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to governor Anusuya Uikey to resolve the present crisis in the state. Leaders of AAP, AIFB, AITC, CPI, CPI (M), INC, JD(U), NCP, RSP and SS (UBT), including former CM Okram Ibobi Singh, had taken part in the rally. A large police force was stationed in the area to stop the gathering. Expressing concern over the sectarian strife, the former CM said the I.N.D.I.A. alliance bloc in Manipur will fight the ruling administration to defend democracy in the country. “Where does the future of the Constitution lie since the ruling government has been violating every citizen’s right, particularly freedom of speech and expression?” Ibobi asked. The memorandum submitted to the governor highlights the failure of the state and central machinery in managing the serious crisis of law and order in the state. It says local civil societies have been trying to fill the gap of missing governance by resorting to various forms of agitation and pronouncements.

TMC withdraws sit-in outside Raj Bhavan on MGNREGA dues after governor's assurance

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has ended their sit-in protest outside the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata after five days. TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee stated that the party received assurance from Governor C V Ananda Bose that he will address the issue of MGNREGA dues with the central government. However, if there is no satisfactory reply by October 31, the party will launch a fresh agitation from November 1 under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Banerjee also mentioned that the governor has promised to discuss the matter with the Centre within 24 hours.
