4 militants held for assaulting, abducting railway driver in state

Imphal: Manipur Police arrested four members of the banned outfit, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup, in Imphal East for assaulting and abducting a 23-year-old railway driver, an official statement said Friday. The accused have been identified as Hijam Nikhil Singh (27), Hijam Thanglen Meitei (30), Thongam Ningthem Singh (32) and Gobin Elangbam (29). Two drug users, who were reportedly in their custody, were also rescued during the operation, the statement added. PTI

Police say Pethkar, who lived in the same Pethgaon neighborhood as the victim, gained her trust over several months. He then lured her to a friend's house in Panvel under false pretenses, where the assault allegedly took place.

4-year-old abducted from OGH, rescued by cops within 12 hrs

A four-year-old boy was kidnapped from Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad after his parents, embroiled in a domestic dispute, left him unattended. The kidnapper, identified as Shaik Rafeeq, was tracked through CCTV footage spanning 20 kilometers. Rafeeq, who intended to use the child for begging, was apprehended at Dabeerpura railway station and the boy was safely reunited with his family.
