Naga group’s plea to stop frisking all cars on NH-2

Imphal: The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) has written to the chairman of the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) to withdraw the decision taken to check all vehicles along NH2. The letter said Nagas have been neutral so far in the ethnic clashes in Manipur. “Your decision is uncalled for and will cause immense hardship and inconvenience to the public, particularly Nagas,” it said. “Any fallout or incident happening due to the decision taken shall not be the responsibility of the NPO,” cautioned the letter. It said until the decision to check all vehicles along NH-2 is withdrawn, the Kuki-Zo people should not be visit Naga areas so as to avoid any unwanted incidents.
