IMPHAL: Nine militants belonging to two banned outfits - Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) and Revolutionary People's Front (RPF)/People's Liberation Army (PLA) - were arrested by security forces in two separate locations in Manipur on Tuesday.

Police have identified the three rebels from KCP (Taibanganba) as Konjengbam Akash (33), Nongthombam Amujao Singh (25) and Amom Somendro alias Kaleipung Meitei (28). They were arrested in the Khongjom area. Two pistols with two magazines, 19 live rounds, Rs 30,000, three mobile mobiles, four demand letters and a car were seized from their possession. Police said they were involved in extortion activities.

In the other incident, the six cadres of RPF/PLA were arrested in the Lamsang area. They have been identified as Nandeibam Opendro Singh (49), Yumkhaibam Rakesh Singh (32), Ngangom Lakhan Singh (24), Wangkhem Ratan Singh (47), Heisanam Deben Singh (41) and Moibungkhongbam Binu Meitei (49).

Police seized a 9mm pistol along with a magazine, one .32 pistol along with one magazine, 16 live ammunition, eight mobiles phones and a vehicle from them.
