‘Suspected robbers of PNB Ukhrul fled towards Myanmar’

IMPHAL: Unidentified armed robbers who looted Rs 18.85 crore from a PNB bank in Viewland Ukhrul on November 30 are suspected to have fled towards the Indo-Myanmar border through the Ukhrul-Jessami Road along NH-202.

Sources said a villager in Sihai Khullen was forced to drop the robbers off at the Indo-Myanmar international border pillars 124-126 in his Mahindra Bolero camper. The international border is approximately 30km from Sihai village by a kuccha road. The driver was apprehended by police at 7am on Saturday from his residence in Sihai Khullen, and questioning is on. It has also come to light that at 7pm on November 30, the robbers demanded that the owner of the Bolero camper drive them to Sihai Kahaophung, 10 km from his house. The driver dropped them off at Sihai Kahaophung and didn’t return until after 8 pm.

Masked armed robbers looted Rs 18.80 crore from a Punjab National Bank branch in Ukhrul town, Manipur. The robbers, armed with advanced weapons and wearing camouflage uniforms, arrived at the bank in Ukhrul town and subdued the security personnel. They threatened the staff and confined them along with the security personnel inside the bank's washroom. Under threat, a senior staff member opened the vault, allowing the robbers to loot the money. Authorities are examining CCTV footage to identify the culprits.

Rs 18.80 crore in cash robbed at gunpoint from bank in Manipur's Ukhrul

A group of 10 individuals robbed a bank in Manipur's Ukhrul district at gunpoint, making away with Rs 18.80 crore in cash. The robbers, dressed in camouflage attire and armed with sophisticated weapons, entered the bank through a staff entrance. They confined the bank employees and security personnel in a washroom and forced an employee to unlock the cash vault. The suspects are yet to be identified.

Myanmar armed group seizes China-Myanmar border crossing

An ethnic minority armed group in Myanmar, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), has seized control of the Kyin San Kyawt border crossing to China from the ruling junta.
