Trying our best to restore normalcy: Biren
“The Centre and the state government are making all efforts to protect the people, so we must also ensure that people continue with their normal lives, such as students going to school and college, farmers going to their fields, shops opening and so on,” he added.
Earlier in the day while attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the Rs 650-crore “Rejuvenating of Lamphelpat water body to alleviate urban flooding in providing sustainable water sources for Imphal city and promoting eco-tourism” project at Lamphelpat, he stressed the need to start development projects as the situation is gradually becoming normal.
He emphasised the need for everyone, including ministers, MLAs and government workers to work day and night as a team. “We have to show that despite so many difficulties, Manipur has overcome everything,” the CM said.
He added that the required heavy equipment has arrived at the project site and that the project will be undertaken by the New Development Bank at an estimated cost of Rs 650 crore within a projected four years.
23 Manipur BJP MLAs reject demand to change CM Biren
Amid ongoing clashes in Manipur, 23 BJP MLAs, including ministers, have expressed confidence in Chief Minister N Biren Singh and rejected calls for his replacement. The MLAs also rejected a proposal for the formation of a regional political party. The Youth of Manipur, a newly formed group seeking a solution to the clashes, had demanded a change in leadership. However, some demands made by the group were deemed unrelated and unacceptable. The remaining 22 MLAs in Delhi are seeking a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

'Uncaring govt' must immediately remove CM Biren Singh: Kapil Sibal on Manipur situation
Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has criticized the Indian government over the situation in Manipur, calling for the immediate removal of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. He stated that the government's lack of concern is leading to the state "burning" and that shutting down the internet is not a solution. Sibal, who was previously a Union minister with the Congress party, quit last year and now supports the Samajwadi Party. He has launched a platform called 'Insaaf' to fight against injustice.
