Close shave for family as school bus rams into public toilet

: Three members of a family had a narrow escape on Monday when a school bus rammed into their room in Sulabh complex near Star Square. The bus, which belong to Delhi Public School, was on its way to pick up students for school. The driver sustained injuries in the incident.


The speedy bus was coming from Indore-Bhopal highway when a truck suddenly came in front of it and the driver lost control, said officials.

A couple and their son stay in the room at Sulabh Complex.

The caretaker

Shaku Chouhan said, “I was opening the gates when I saw the bus coming towards me. I thought the driver would take turn but the bus was in speed and it hit the wall of the complex. The rashly driven bus damaged the platform and wall.”

Shaku’s husband Anil, who is a labourer, was in toilet during the incident said, “I heard my wife’s scream and then a sound of blast. I just prayed for my family to be safe as my wife just went out to open the gate and our son was sleeping in the room. Had she not run away from the gates on time, she would have been hit by the bus.” The bus driver sustained severe injuries in hand and was unable to get out of the bus. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and later, the locals parked the bus at roadside with the help of a truck.

Khajrana police TI Pritam Singh Thakur said, a case against the bus driver has been registered for negligence and rash driving. The driver alleged that the truck suddenly came from highway towards Star Square due to which he lost control and rammed the bus into Sulabh Complex. DPS vice principal Asha Nair said, “The incident took place due to negligence of the truck driver. We have lodged a complaint against the unidentified driver at Khajrana police station”. However, TI Thakur said he didn’t get any complaint against truck driver.
