Hospital guard accused of beating up cancer-stricken boy, parents in Indore

: The parents of a cancer-stricken boy have alleged that they - and the child - were beaten up by a hospital guard late Tuesday night after they protested against not being allowed to give the boy home-cooked food.


No police complaint was filed as the hospital authorities intervened and persuaded the parents to come to a resolution. When TOI contacted

, he said the guard had been suspended, but shot back: "These things keep happening and are not such serious issues."

was operated on Monday, his mother Ruksana told TOI on Wednesday, adding that they received government funding for the surgery. "Due to the operation, Arwaaz is unable to eat anything, so doctors advised us to spoon-feed him mashed roti and dal," she said. On Tuesday night, her husband Md Yousuf went to the hospital with food for Arwaaz and Ruksana, but was allegedly barred by hospital guards since the Hospital had banned home-cooked food In February 2018.

A quarrel broke out. Yousuf then called his wife, who came to the gates with her son so that they could feed him. Ruksana alleges that a hospital guard started beating them and roughly pushed the cancer-stricken child too.
