IMC zonal office superintendent arrested on bribe charges
Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation's zonal office superintendent was caught red-handed by Lokayukta police while accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from a drainage worker.According to DSP Anand Chauhan, they received a complaint from Bharat Singoliya, who worked as drainage worker in Zone 11 from 2008 to July 2024. On July 18, 2024, Bharat was relieved from his duties by additional commissioner Siddharth Jain. On May 13, 2025, a fresh order reappointing him as drainage worker was issued by deputy commissioner. After receiving the reappointment order, Bharat approached Sanjay Ved, office superintendent of Zone 18. During the meeting, Ved demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for facilitating the appointment. Bharat negotiated and agreed to pay Rs 15,000, upon which Ved took Rs 5,000 on the spot and told Bharat that he would not proceed with the appointment until the remaining amount was paid.Bharat then approached Lokayukta SP Rajesh Sahay with a detailed complaint. Acting on this, Lokayukta team laid a trap and instructed Bharat to call Ved and ask him to collect the remaining bribe amount at World Cup Square. When Ved arrived to collect the money from Bharat, the Lokayukta police arrested him on the spot.A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
