Ujjain man arrested for raping Mumbai woman

The complainant, a resident of Dadar, told the police that she had connected with the accused, Vikas Sharma of Kazipur, on Instagram about two weeks ago. After the two struck up a conversation, Vikas expressed his intention to marry her. The woman travelled to Badnagar to meet him, where he allegedly raped her under the pretext of marriage.
She filed a complaint at Badnagar police station at around 2 am on Wednesday. A case was registered and Vikas was arrested. He was produced before a First Class Judicial Magistrate and sent to judicial custody.
Station House Officer Ashok Patidar said that the accused has no prior criminal record and had been visiting Badnagar for work with a band.
