MYH docs & security guard assaulted by attendees, two face FIR

Indore: Sanyogitaganj police lodged an FIR after doctors and a female security guard at Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital (MYH) were assaulted by an agitated group of attendees late on Tuesday night. The incident occurred after a dispute over treatment of a child. Three doctors and a security guard were allegedly injured in the attack. The accused, identified as Deepak Solanki, Pradeep Solanki and their associates, allegedly assaulted the doctors and guards, damaging property and medical records. Dr Shwetank Soni said the incident began when the attendants, dissatisfied with the treatment their child was receiving, began to argue with the medical staff. The situation escalated rapidly when the attendants and their associates turned violent, attacking the doctors and security guards. The attackers allegedly vandalised the doctors' chambers, scattering documents and medical records."The altercation began when the patient's relatives protested the shared bed arrangement accusing us of delaying treatment. After an initial argument, they left the hospital with the patient, but returned with more people, who then began beating the staff with belts, rods and chairs," the doctors said.Following the incident, Sanyogitaganj police arrived at the scene and caught two Deepak and Pradeep for their alleged involvement in the attack on the medical college staff. An FIR was registered against them under section 121 (1), 132, 296, 351 (2) and 3(5) of the BNS. Following the incident, JDA president Dr Akash Verma emphasized that requests for strengthening security was made three months ago following the RG Kar Hospital, Kolkata incident. The JDA has now threatened to go on a strike if their safety concerns are not addressed urgently.To this, MGM Medical College dean Dr Sanjay Dixit said that a proposal has been prepared to increase 110 security personnel.
