: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed and her daughter critically injured when a mobile phone kept on her lap exploded in

. The shrapnel from the mobile phone pierced the woman’s stomach killing her, while it caused injuries to the two-and-half-year old girl on the leg, Udaygarh police said.


The incident took place on Sunday noon when the woman, Bali Panwar (27), had returned home after working on cotton fields. She was sitting with her daughter, Renuka, and the mobile phone was kept on her lap, police said, adding as the phone exploded, she sustained injuries on her stomach and thigh.

The girl was playing nearby and she sustained injuries on her right leg.

The family panicked and rushed the mother-daughter duo to a hospital, where Bali died during treatment.

Bali was married to one Mukam Singh, who had lost his right hand when he came in contact with a power line eight years ago.
