Bichom 27th district of Arunachal

ITANAGAR: Bichom, carved out of West and East Kameng, became the 27th district of Arunachal Pradesh.

CM Pema Khandu inaugurated the district and laid the foundation of its headquarters at Napangphung on Thursday, an official communique said. He also handed over responsibilities to deputy commissioner Akriti Sagar and SP Sudhanshu Dhama.

Congratulating the people of the new district, the CM said, “Honouring voices of diverse communities, we have fulfilled the longstanding demand for the creation of the district, pending since 1984.”

“I must commend the contributions of MLAs Mama Natung, Goruk Pordung and Dongru Siongju for finally making Bichom district a reality,” he said.

CM lays foundation stone for Dewas project in Udaipur district

Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Assam governor Gulabchand Kataria laid the foundation stone of the Rs 1,690 crore Dewas Third-Fourth Project in Gogunda of Udaipur. The project aims to keep the lakes of Udaipur full and improve the drinking water system. Udaipur is emerging as a wedding destination. The government will develop tourist destinations associated with Maharana Pratap.

District administration to scale up, expand Project X

The third phase of Project X, an initiative for comprehensive sexuality education, is set to launch in Thiruvananthapuram district on International Women's Day. Led by district collector Geromic George, it aims to expand comprehensive sexuality education in Kerala.

Farmer trampled to death by elephant in TN's Erode district

A 65-year-old farmer was killed by an elephant in Kadambur forest, Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve. The incident occurred when Marappan was grazing his sheep at Kadaganalli. The elephant emerged from the bushes and trampled him to death. Locals rushed to the scene and attempted to scare away the elephant.
