2 days on, kidnapped bride, key accused still untraced
Jaipur: Two days after a 21-year-old bride was kidnapped in
Sikar SP Dr Amandeep Kapoor Singh told TOI that four accused have been arrested, while five others have been detained in the case. “Our special teams have been sent across several locations to find the bride. The main accused in the case has also been identified,” Singh said.
Several organisations including the Rajput Karni Sena have been protesting in the city ever since Hansa Kanwar was kidnapped in the wee hours on Wednesday. Meanwhile, sources in city police told TOI that cops are speaking to the family members of the main accused, who is said to have hatched the conspiracy. Rajasthan DGP Kapil Garg had said that Sikar police have made substantial lead into the case. However, the officials claimed that there are many “unanswered questions” in the shocking kidnapping, which are also being explored.
“Somebody must have shared a vital tip-off about the baraat (wedding procession) with the accused, who were waiting in hiding, to strike at a secluded location. Everything was carefully planned,” the official said, adding that the mobile tower locations and informers on the ground are being used to crack the case.
According to the FIR registered at Dhod police station, about eight men followed the baraat from the marriage garden in Nagwa. At 2.30am, near a bus stand in Rambaxpura, the accused travelling in a Bolero and camper vehicle, waylaid the SUV in which the newly-wed Hansa Kanwar was travelling with her husband. “The accused attacked the SUV, in which Hansa was accompanied by her husband, sister and brother-in-law. The accused attacked the car with sticks and destroyed it. Two of the accused then forcibly took away Hansa and pushed her into their car,” said ASI Banshi Dhar.
Meanwhile, cabinet minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said that the government is concerned about the Sikar kidnapping case and has directed DGP Kapil and the entire police force to hunt down the accused. “The accused who are evading arrest should surrender at once. The government and the police will not allow them to run scot free,” he said.
