Police team attacked in Baran, constable suffers bullet injury
Kota: A police constable sustained a bullet injury to his thigh after the police team he was accompanying for an investigation was attacked by the accused and his family members in Mahua village under Siswali police station in Baran district on Monday morning. Swinging into action, the police detained 8 accused, including 3 women, in the matter, The injured constable, Pokharam, who is posted at Siswali police station, was given primary treatment in Baran before being rushed to a hospital in Kota, where his condition is reportedly out of danger.The police team, led by SHO Chhotulal of Siswali police station, was investigating a case of obstructing govt work and misbehaving with police, lodged the previous evening. "While conducting a site inspection, the accused, hiding in a house, attacked the officers. One of the assailants fired the shot that injured the constable," said Baran SP Rajkumar Choudhary.The attackers fled across rooftops into nearby fields. Police from three stations quickly cordoned off the area and detained eight family members, including three women and five men, identified as Rameshwar, Vishnu, Bhimraj, Dinesh, and Deva. Accused Vishnu, Bhimraj, Dinesh and Deva were injured while attempting to flee and are receiving treatment at CHC, Siswali. One of the women, Tarawati, also sustained a bullet injury and is being treated at the same facility.Illegal weapons were recovered from the scene, and efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects.A family from the Mehar community had earlier lodged a report against a family from the Mali community, alleging that the latter did not allow them to pass outside their house. Police had visited the village on Sunday afternoon, where officers faced resistance while performing their duties.
