Gehlot unveils Oxy Zone City Park in Kota

Kota: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday unveiled Oxy Zone City Park, also called the Garden of Joy, that is spread over 30 hectares in the heart of Kota and has been built at a cost of Rs 120 crore. He said Rajasthan has become a model state in urban development. The park has been built by Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) of Kota with the aim of providing a stress-free environment to coaching students. Construction began in February 2020 and was completed in 800 days.
Assembly Speaker CP Joshi, UDH minister and Kota-North MLA Shanti Dhariwal, education minister BD Kalla, some other ministers, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra and some MLAs were present during the inauguration of the park by Gehlot.
The CM made a round of the park in a tourist cart along with Dhariwal, Joshi and Dotasara. Other ministers also had a round there in separate carts. Gehlot planted a tree in the park and had a group photoshoot with the ministers at the Tree Man statue, which is made of gun metal.
Gehlot was greeted by children with flowers at the children’s park, where he wrote a message for them. The CM also enjoyed a bout of boating in the park.
Dubbed as a masterpiece of biodiversity protection, the park delivers the message that human beings are an inseparable part of nature. The park has various green and environment-friendly features, including 15-metre-tall gun metal statues of the Tree Man, Knowledge is Freedom, and Save the Earth.
Earlier in the day, Gehlot inaugurated the newly constructed sale tax office building, the newly constructed head office building, and the building of the new branch of Kota Central Cooperative Bank Limited.
The CM landed at Kota airport at around 10.30am on Wednesday and headed to Oxy Zone City Park for its inauguration. A 1,200-metre-long and 15-metre-wide canal flows across the park, and an 80-metre-long artificial hill adds to its beauty.
A 13-by-28 sq m glass house is another characteristic feature of the park besides a picturesque duck pond and a 320-metre-long fountain that flows into the canal amid musical notations. A major feature of the park is that it is the habitat of 200 species of foreign and domestic birds. It also has a food zone, a city bazar, kids’ zone, an open gym, and a senior citizens’ zone.
A botanical garden with around 2 lakh shrubs and 20,000 trees, green ground and seasonal flowers also adorn Oxy Zone Park.
