JODHPUR:
Rajasthan High Court on Friday issued notices to the state government and defence estate officer, government of India seeking reply in six weeks in a matter related to
encroachment
of land during acquisition for defence use. Petitioner Tejaram and Khinyaram Patel from Karwar village in
Jodhpur
has moved a petition in the high court stating that agriculture land parcels in their village and around, had been acquired for defence purpose in 1983 and this exercise continued till 1989.
His counsel Praveen Dayal Dave told the court that many unacquired land parcels were also taken into acquisition along with acquired land, which also included the land of ex-serviceman Tejaram.
“Not only this, but he was barred from accessing his land and carrying out agriculture activities on his illegally acquired land,” said Dave adding that even construction was also done on this land.
Petitioner Tejaram ran from pillar to post all these years to various authorities from district to the defence administration for getting his land freed, but in vain.
He sought either compensation or rent of his land, replying to which, the Defence Estates Officer admitted to have encroached many land parcels in village Karwar and Bishnoian Kharolan without acquisition.
“The estate office also assured the process of land acquisition was ongoing and a board had been constituted in this regard,” Dave said.
