Rajasthan HC restrains forest department from shifting tigresses to Mukundra
JAIPUR: The Rajasthan High Court on Friday restrained the forest and wildlife department from shifting two
The division bench of Justice K S Jhaveri and V K Vyas gave an interim stay on the shifting during the hearing of PIL by Ajay Shanker Dubey, a wildlife activist. Dubey had challenged the relocation of the tiger T-91 from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve to the Mukundra Hills in April this year without the permission of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
The court had earlier issued notices to the Centre and the state following the PIL. While the writ petition is pending the government recently gave the green signal for the shifting of two tigresses to Mukundra Hills from Ranthambore Park this time with the consent of the NTCA.
Principal chief wildlife warden G B Reddy who was present in the court confirmed of the development. The court then restrained the department from proceeding with the shifting till the next hearing of the case on Monday (July 9).
Hingonia gaushala overcrowded: JMC
Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has directed the Jaipur Municipal Corporation to find two more places under the JDA to decongest the overcrowded Hingonia gaushala and address the stray dog menace in the city within a fortnight.
The single bench of Justice S P Sharma gave the directions during the hearing of a suo motu petition on stray animal menace and the poor civic condition of the city.
The court had on Friday summoned the JVVNL chief engineer(Jaipur) to the court and asked him why the court directions of March 22 for filling up the pits in city roads for lying underground cables were not complied with and warned of imposing cost on it.
JMC additional commissioner informed the court that the Hingonia gaushala, the biggest Goshala in the state, is overcrowded and there is no more space to accommodate stray cows caught from the city roads. The court then directed the JMC to find two more places in the city to accommodate such cows.
The court said the JMC could approach the JDA to allot pasture land for this purpose. The court also directed the JDA and JMC to construct drains for the outflow of storm water.
