Heavy rain and gusty winds at 50-60 kmph speed lash Jaipur

Jaipur: A day after heavy dust storms and rainfall were witnessed across the state, mercury took a dip on Thursday. Even during the night, heavy rainfall, dust storms accompanied with lightning and high velocity winds at a speed of 50-60kms per hour occurred in and around Jaipur and nearby districts including Dausa, Sikar and Jhunjhunu.
“High velocity winds at a speed of 50 to 60 kms per hour accompanied with heavy rainfall lashed Jaipur at 10 pm,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office.
Normal life and vehicular traffic was also affected in and around the city. Many localities also witnessed abrupt power cuts. Trees were uprooted at some places and hoardings fell on road.
Nautapa (nine days of severe heat wave) in the state started with pleasant weather as there was a dip of almost 8°Celsius in the maximum and minimum temperatures. Mild to moderate showers continued at Sriganganagar, Bikaner Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Sikar districts of the state. Jaisalmer remained hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 41.8°C.
Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 20°C, almost 8°C below the normal for this time of year.
