Hotel owner killed, 3 injured in firing over liquor business rivalry in Rajasthan
JHUNJHUNU: A late-night shooting at a hotel in Bidasar town of Churu disrtict has left one man dead and three others injured. The incident, which took place late Monday night, involved unknown assailants who entered the hotel and opened fire indiscriminately, police said.
The victim, identified as Muniram Manda (40), owner of the Royal Treat Hotel, with ties to the local liquor and hospitality businesses, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Sujangarh hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Three other victims—Bhekharam, Shravan, and Prabhuram—sustained serious injuries and were initially treated at Bidasar hospital before being referred to Jaipur for further medical attention.
Witnesses reported that the assailants fled the scene before police arrived. Police teams, led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Jai Yadav, secured the hotel and began collecting evidence. The area was cordoned off as forensic teams worked to gather clues, while heavy police presence remained around the hospital and the vicinity.
According to SP Yadav, the violence appears to stem from ongoing rivalries in the local liquor business potentially leading to the lethal confrontation. The police have launched a manhunt for the attackers and are analyzing CCTV footage to identify them.
Family members of the deceased have formally accused four individuals, including Rajuram, Dhannaram, and Devi Singh, in connection with the shooting. In response to the growing unrest, have police detained 10 suspects for questioning, aiming to unravel the motivations behind the shooting.
As tensions rose in the town, a large crowd gathered outside the hotel demanding justice and the swift arrest of those responsible. Local authorities managed to de-escalate the situation after engaging with the crowd. Police are interrogating the detained accused.
