Indian Army holds Maru Sangram in Jaisalmer, showcases combat readiness

JAISALMER: In a significant display of operational readiness, Lt Gen AVS Rathee, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Konark Corps, reviewed combat preparedness during the high-intensity military exercise Maru Sangram, held in the forward areas of the desert sector in Jaisalmer.

The exercise witnessed active participation from the elite Battle Axe Division, led by Major General Ashish Khurana, along with several senior military officials. The large-scale war drill aimed to validate integrated battle strategies and enhance coordination among various combat arms under realistic battlefield conditions.





Conducted in the harsh terrain of the Thar Desert, the exercise showcased the Indian Army’s evolving warfighting capabilities. Key elements included armoured units, mechanised infantry, artillery regiments, and the deployment of advanced drone and counter-drone systems. Attack helicopters were also integrated into the operational matrix, providing aerial support and surveillance, reflecting a multi-domain warfare approach.

Lt Gen Rathee interacted with troops on the ground and reviewed operational drills, emphasising the importance of agility, precision, and seamless coordination. He commended the troops for their professionalism and high morale, highlighting their ability to operate effectively in extreme desert conditions.

The Konark Warriors demonstrated their commitment to maintaining combat readiness by continuously honing their tactical and technical skills. The exercise also underscored the Indian Army’s focus on self-reliance (Atmanirbharta), innovation, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies tailored for future battlefields.

Military officials noted that such exercises are crucial in preparing forces for emerging threats and ensuring a swift and effective response in real-time scenarios. The integration of modern warfare tools, including drones and counter-drone systems, marks a significant step towards enhancing situational awareness and battlefield dominance.
