Jaipur-Delhi highway tragedy: At least 2 dead as bus carrying labourers catches fire; Ashok Gehlot slams recurring road mishaps - Watch
NEW DELHI: At least two people were killed and 10 others injured when a bus caught fire after coming in contact with a high-tension electricity line in the Manoharpur area of Jaipur district on Tuesday morning.
The bus, which was headed to Todi village, went up in flames after touching the live wire, triggering a massive blaze that engulfed the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly and several explosions were heard. Locals rushed to the spot and managed to pull out several passengers before the bus was completely charred.

Officials said several of the injured were shifted to Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur, where sources confirmed that the victims had sustained serious burn injuries.
Preliminary reports suggest that the bus might have come into contact with the overhead power line while attempting to take a turn near a brick kiln. The exact cause of the accident, however, is under investigation.
The district administration has ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident.
Reacting to the incident, chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma said the deaths in the Manoharpur bus accident were “extremely tragic” and directed officials to ensure the injured receive immediate and adequate medical treatment.
“The loss of lives in the bus accident at Manoharpur in Jaipur is extremely tragic. The concerned officials have been directed to ensure proper treatment for the injured. I pray to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and a speedy recovery to those injured.”
