Jaipur woman dies after jumping from apartment building
Jaipur: A 27-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fourth floor of a residential apartment building in Jaipur’s Hathoj area under Kalwar police station limits Friday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Chetna. Police said she had reportedly been suffering from mental health-related issues for several years and was undergoing treatment.
According to police, Chetna left her house around 2pm and walked nearly 100metre to a nearby residential society in Hathoj. “Locals said that she reached the terrace of the building and allegedly jumped from the fourth floor. Our team reached the spot and took her to the hospital, where she succumbed due to head injury and excessive bleeding,” a police officer said.
Residents rushed to the spot after hearing a loud noise and found her critically injured. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police said preliminary investigation revealed that she frequently visited the apartment complex where she either owned or stayed in a flat.
The body was later shifted to the mortuary for postmortem examination. Police will probe abetment of suicide angle and are also questioning family members.
During initial inquiry, family members informed police that Chetna suffered a serious head injury in childhood after falling from a bicycle. Since then, she reportedly remained unwell. Her condition allegedly worsened over the past four years, during which she underwent treatment and was admitted to hospital for care.
Police said no suicide note was recovered from the spot. Further investigation is underway.
