JDA plans its first 10-storey residential tower for govt staff in Jaipur
Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is set to build its first 10-storey residential tower for govt employees in Jaipur, signalling a significant change in its housing strategy.
Although this project was planned for JDA officials and employees of other govt departments, the project could shape future high-rise housing under JDA schemes.
The proposed tower will come up on a vacant plot opposite the state Police Headquarters in Lalkothi. It is expected to house more than 250 flats. Officials said the move was prompted by a shortage of residential quarters for JDA and other department staff in Malviya Nagar and Lal Kothi.
At present, old and dilapidated JDA quarters stand on the site identified for the new tower. These structures will be demolished to make way for the modern residential complex.
“We have already drafted a proposal regarding this project. Consequently, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and other associated procedures are set to be initiated shortly,” stated a JDA official.
The tower will include 3-BHK and 4-BHK flats, aimed at offering improved housing for govt officials. Along with residential units, the project will feature several supporting amenities within the premises. These include a shopping area, indoor sports facilities, a gymnasium and a community hall.
“The project — to come on land measuring approximately 14,000 sq m — is expected to entail an estimated expenditure of approximately Rs 200 crore. JDA officials will get the first preference. If flats remain available, they will be made available to other govt departments,” the official added.
