JMC-G begins cleanliness campaign in all its wards

Jaipur: The JMC Greater started a two-week cleanliness campaign in the city from Monday by organising a Safai Mitra Safety Camp in Mansarovar zone. Officials said that as part of the campaign, health check-ups of all sanitation workers will be conducted at zone offices in the city.On the first day, over 46 sanitation workers got their health check-up done.“Under the joint aegis of CIFAR organisation and JMC Greater, under the Indian Cleanliness League 2.0, awareness rally was also conducted in Jhalana Kunda in Jagatpura zone,” said officials.Chief health officer Dr. Rashmi Kankaria said that with the help of EHCC hospital and expert doctors like Dr. Tasleem Khan (gynaecologist), Dr. Sanjay Kumar (physician) the health checks-up camp was organised on Monday.“On September 21, camp will be set up in zones of Malviya Nagar, Vidyadhar Nagar, and Muralipura. On September 22, camps will be set up in Sanganer, Jagatpura, Jhotwara and headquarters of JMC Greater,” said Kankaria.Officials and councillors have been instructed to ensure that all sanitation workers get their health check-up done, and later record must be submitted to officials.Officials said that the general public was made aware of cleanliness and advised to collect wet and dry waste separately and put it in the waste collection vehicles and not dump on roads. Residents were also urged to not use single-use plastic or throw garbage on roads. Through the rally, traders and street vendors were also urged to use dustbins. TNN

User charges for waste collection in all the zones of JMC-G likely

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater (JMC-G) is planning to expand the collection of user charges for door-to-door waste collection in all its zones after a positive response from two zones. User charges range from Rs 20-150 for residential houses and Rs 250-5,000 for commercial establishments. The process will be streamlined using radio-frequency identification (RFID) cards and an app-based monitoring system. This has resulted in a significant reduction in complaints. The revenue generated from each zone will be used for development in that area. The JMC is also finalizing plans to issue green bonds for a sewage treatment plant.

The mayor has instructed officials to monitor cleanliness and suspend those responsible for unsatisfactory conditions. Supervisors will be appointed in each ward to monitor the cleanliness system. Surprise inspections will be conducted, and wards that perform well will be rewarded. The JMC-G administration is also planning to expand user charges for waste collection in all zones. Other cities like Tambaram and Cuttack are also implementing cleanliness initiatives.

Health checks of CSMC sanitation workers

The local chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar conducted special health check-ups for the sanitary staffers of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC). The check-ups included general examinations as well as bone density, pulmonary function, and eye examinations. The IMA believes it is their duty to offer free healthcare to the city's sanitation workers and plans to hold a similar health check-up drive for CSMC employees in the future. The CSMC health officer praised the IMA for their community-oriented health initiatives.
