JAIPUR: JMC Greater (JMC-G) will start a two-week cleanliness campaign in all its wards from Monday. The mayor during a review meeting of all zonal officials on Sunday said that the cleanliness will be monitored in all wards and if found unsatisfactory then those responsible can even get suspended.

Somya Gurjar, mayor of JMC-G, instructed the chief sanitation inspectors and sanitation inspectors present in the meeting to ensure the implementation of Swachahata Hi Seva programmes on the ground.

“Supervisors will be appointed in every ward to monitor the cleanliness system and along with the concerned ward councillors. During the inspection, everything including dry waste, wet waste, garden waste, CND waste will be monitored as per a route map. Open garbage depots must be under the door-to-door garbage collection system,” said the mayor.

In the meeting, Gurjar said that any negligence towards cleanliness will not be tolerated and surprise inspections will be conducted by the commissioner or mayor at any ward.

“Wards will be selected that perform the best in the cleanliness campaign and will be felicitated separately on October 1. The ward that wins will be given Rs 31 lakh, the ward coming second will get Rs 21 lakh and the ward that stands third will receive additional development work worth Rs 11 lakh,” added the mayor.

Ward area supervisors, health inspectors, chief health inspectors and sanitation workers doing good work will also be encouraged.

Commissioner Babu Lal Goyal said that cleanliness drives will be organised through youth groups at railway stations, bus stands and main roads. Apart from this, cleanliness quiz will also be organized in all the zones.

CMC to distribute plants to households in all 59 wards

Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is distributing plants to each household in all 59 wards as part of a drive to make the city greener. The CMC aims to plant seven lakh trees across the city to improve the environment amidst ongoing infrastructure projects. Different species of trees will be distributed, including kanchan, karanj, kadamb, bakula, mango, pana, jamun, pimpal, umber, and neem. The initiative, which starts on Friday and runs until the end of October, aims to maintain a balance of nature in the city. Each household can take up to 10 trees from the CMC.
