Three, including infant, test positive for Covid in state

JAIPUR: Three persons were found infected with Covid-19 in the state on Thursday. One of them is a one-month-old infant, already undergoing treatment at JK Lon Hospital in Jaipur.

“The infant was brought from Bharatpur for treatment of other ailments, but he tested positive for Covid-19. A 43-year-old, resident of Jhunjhunu, who was undergoing treatment at Sawai Man Singh Hospital for other disease has also been tested positive for Covid-19. They have been isolated and separated from other patients,” said Dr Vijay Singh, chief medical health officer (CMHO), Jaipur.

Another person from Dausa was tested positive for the virus. In the past two days, five persons have been found infected with Covid-19.

In compliance with the directions issued by Shubhra Singh, additional chief secretary (health), health department has issued an advisory for prevention and control of Covid-19 and respiratory diseases.

During winters, patients suffering from symptoms like cough, fever, cold and sore throat increases. At present, an increase in the number of Covid cases has been reported from other parts of the country. A new sub-variant of Covid JN.1 has been found in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi and Goa. In the state, two patients in Jaisalmer and two in Jaipur, have been found infected in two days.

The advisory says, if patients suffering from mild cold, cough, fever, and sore throat seek medical advice on time, the disease can be effectively and immediately controlled.

After doctor's examination, home isolation in case of symptoms of common cold, cough, fever, and sore throat in ILI (Influenza-like Illness) patients and in case of severe or prolonged duration of the above symptoms and severe acute respiratory hospitalization is recommended. The advisory further mentioned that children, elderly people, pregnant women and people with co-morbidities like diabetes, cancer, heart disease and other serious diseases, should be alert and take special care.
