Jaipur: Jaipur Metro-II’s MACT cases special court-I directed the insurance company to pay a compensation of Rs 43.94 lakh to the parents of resident doctor Dr Aman Shah who died in a road accident on JLN Marg on March 21, 2019.
It has also asked to pay seven percent interest on this amount from April 11, 2019, the date of filing the claim petition, till its recovery.
Justice Raj Vyas gave this order on the claim petition of the deceased’s mother Babita Jain and father Dr Rakesh Shah, residents of UP.
Manish Jain, counsel for the petitioner, said that the court accepted that Aman was doing his specialisation in orthopaedic surgery from Dhawantri Hospital, Mansarovar after doing MBBS and internship at the time of the accident. During this period, he was getting a stipend of Rs 30,000 per month, he said.
Jain said, he was unmarried and his parents were dependent on him. The court calculated the compensation on an average monthly income of Rs 42,000. In such a situation, it would be appropriate to provide compensation of Rs 43.94 lakh to the dependents for their loss. In the petition on behalf of the dependents, a claim of Rs 67 lakh was sought from the insurance company and other parties, he said.
