What happened inside the Tiger Reserve is no a surprise.. The Forest dept. Knows this for a long time because they are the ones who sell the tickets to the vehicles. The irony is that Tourists who pay a hefty amount to visit the Reserve are not a priority. One Gypsy or a Canter pays 20 times more than 10 of these so called pilgrim vehicles. The Forest Dept. Has to choose between saving the envoirnment & the animal habitat specially the Tiger, who the Prime Minister Modi is also pitching to save the Tiger. Is anybody concerned to work towards Modi’s pledge to double the numbers by 2022. There are options to serve the pilgrims purpose as well by using battery operated buses with fixed timings as at Elephanta or create a shorter corridor from Bharathari temple with fencing on both sides. I am sure there are many options and solutions to save the Tiger and other animals.
