JAIPUR: The state government on Thursday sought an additional assistance of Rs 966.51 crore from the
Centre
under the National Disaster
Relief Fund (NDRF) for
flood
relief.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday approved the quantum of assistance to be sought by the state from the Centre.
Gehlot directed officials to prepare estimates of losses that occurred due to rain-related incidents in the monsoon so that a final memorandum to demand assistance can be sent to the Centre at the earliest.
He said 59 people had died and several public properties, residential buildings, roads and dams, cattle sheds suffered damages due to heavy rains during monsoon.
Most of the demands prepared by the state disaster management department include damage caused to roads, bridges, repair of drainage in urban areas, crop loss and erosion of soil and damage caused to power networks.
