Rajasthan election results 2018: Supporters of Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot root for their next CM

JAIPUR: While discussions and deliberations went on inside the PCC state headquarters on Wednesday, eager supporters of both Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot, had gathered in large numbers outside.

With hundreds of supporters and party workers blocking the main road outside and raising slogans for their leaders, administration was forced to deploy security personnel and police barricading on the entire road. The supporters had started gathering since morning, anticipating an annoucement on their new CM.

Supporters of Pilot raised slogans and chants of ‘Sachin, Sachin’ filled the air. “Pilot should be the next CM. He has been working hard for last four years. From public addresses and meetings with the party workers, almost all the Congress party has worked under his leadership. If he won’t be the CM that will be injustice,” said one supporter holding the Congress party flag.

Someone was holding letters claimed to be written in blood to the Congress committee for making Sachin Pilot the CM. Surprisingly, a person was holding a banner with words - “Maharaja Vishwendra Singh should be the CM” in front of the Congress party office.

People were dancing to drum beats and raising slogans in support of the Congress’ major victory after the threat of saffronisation of the state and major loss in 2013. One of the Gehlot supporters said, “Gehlot sahib doesn’t need any slogan chants. He has been working in the state for the last 40 years. We need experienced people. Pilot is a good leader but very immature. He is not a CM material.”

Around 8pm all the senior party leaders left for Governor house and it was declared that the name of the CM candidate will be announced on Thursday. The supporters kept on chanting Pilot’s name with Congress flags in hand.
