NEW DELHI: Indian Army's Romeo Force personnel celebrated Diwali in the Pir Panjal Range at an altitude of 8,000 feet, far from their homes.

The jawans sang bhajans, distributed sweets, and lighted sparklers. They performed aarti and distributed laddoos, marking the festival of lights.


At the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, jawans held Diwali pooja, danced, sang songs, and enjoyed firecrackers. One jawan shared, "We are celebrating Diwali with our other family--the army jawans. We are far from our families." He further stated, "I appeal to my fellow countrymen not to worry about anything. Happy Diwali to all from the Indian Army. We are standing here, guarding the border."

Another jawan assured the nation, "We want to assure our people that we are firmly standing at the LoC. Celebrate the festival with your families."

He added, "The Army is our home. We spend ten months here and take leave for the remaining two. We mix with the rest of the soldiers like our own family."

Acknowledging the separation from their families, another jawan expressed, "We miss our families, but we are happy to be celebrating Diwali here. I want to tell my countrymen to celebrate Diwali at home."

Diwali, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, is set to be celebrated on October 31. The five-day festival begins with Dhanteras and concludes with Bhai Dooj, with families decorating their homes with lamps, sharing sweets, and participating in festive activities.
