JAMMU:
Indian Army has undertaken the construction of the damaged Birhan Bridge in Udhampur. The bridge is a critical connect on the main arterial road in
Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharing details, the defence spokesman said, "The aforesaid bridge was severely damaged due to monsoon rains, resulting in stoppage of its use even by pedestrians, causing severe inconvenience to all."
“On July 28, an on-site meeting by deputy commissioner (DC) Udhampur and senior officers of
Udhampur Garrison
was held and a roadmap to repair the bridge with assistance of the
Army was worked out," the spokesman added.
He said that the
Engineer Regiment of Indian Army
has been toiling along with civil administration till late hours and during bad weather to repair the important bridge and make it operational soon.
"Birhan Bridge is a critical bridge on the main artery to Udhampur, and Indian Army and
Northern Command
that are always at the forefront and committed for the safety and welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir both during peace and war took the task of construction of the vital bridge," the spokesperson said.
