Pak drone spotted along LoC in Poonch

Jammu: Alert Army troops fired a few rounds on spotting a drone, that emerged from the Pakistani side, hovering close to the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s Poonch district Tuesday morning. A search operation was launched in the area to trace the suspected drone droppings, said officials.To fuel terrorism in J&K, Pakistan-based terror outfits use drones to smuggle payloads of weapons, narcotics, ammunition, and cash into India via the LoC and international border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts. The consignments are later picked up by terrorists operating on the Indian side or by overground workers who hand them over to terrorists.J&K Police have announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh for anyone providing information about drones travelling cross-border to drop weapon/drug consignments, leading to the recovery of the illegal material.On Sept 2, security forces recovered three drone-dropped pistols during an anti-terror operation in Mallu Chack area of Samba’s Ramgarh sector. Earlier on July 26, Army troops opened fire at an UAV (drone/quadcopter) spotted near Sair, a forward village along LoC, in Rajouri district and seized a pistol, 37 pistol rounds and two loaded pistol magazines.
